RIVERFOOD FOR YOU
A growing world population, limited agricultural land, climate change... how will we keep feeding everyone in a healthy way - for us as well as for the rest of nature?
At Riverfood we strive to inspire as many enthusiasts as possible to produce or buy food locally: within (ever growing) cities by using indoor aquaponics and vertical farming.
Let us inspire you!
Riverfood will happily take on an advisory role, give presentations and develop educational tools.
WHAT IS AQUAPONICS?
Aquaponics is a man-made system in which tank-based fish culture (or growing other fresh water animals) and hydroponic plant culture (growing plants without soil) are intergrated in such a way that 80% or more of the nutrients required by the plants to grow healthily arise from the transformation of fish waste by bacteria.
Aquaponics can be done indoor as well as outdoor and can - depending on the (indoor) circumstances - produce food all year round.
As fish, bacteria and plants work together no pesticides for plant pests and no antibiotics for fish disease can be used - resulting in healthy food products.
From 2016 till 2020 Riverfood worked enthusiastly with self employed experts, talented interns and passionate volunteers: designers, ecologists, business developers, marketeers and educators - all sharing a passion for sustainable food production, healthy food and nature.
Currently Riverfood is run by Linda and Max only.
